Mick Day was one Allestree Park's best known rangers. He took early retirement, following the financial cut-backs by the City Council a few years ago, but still retained a keen interest in the Park.
Sadly, he passed away at the early age of 57 in April 2014, to the great sadness of very many people
Mick was an expert photographer, with an eye for landscapes. He had a great fondness for his workplace, very evident from these evocative pictures. He often often started work very early, enabling him to capture some stunning dawn scenes.
I think this selection of Mike's work speaks for itself and is a fitting tribute to him. We hope to add more pictures from his extensive archive, as time goes on.
