Works to the Dam, Lower Lake, Allestree Park
We have received this message from David Winslow of Derby City Council Parks Department
Many of you will have seen some work taking place on the dam at Allestree Lake. Please find below a statement from our Land Drainage Team outlining the works taking place. Please could you share with the group.
Kind Regards
David Winslow
An inspection of Allestree Dam was also carried out on 22nd of September
Dr Andy Hughes and representatives from Land Drainage attended site.
The reservoir inspector has requested that growth on the lake side is removed along with small self-set trees. Larger established trees will remain.
By removing the growth this will enable a thorough inspection of the bankside.
Removing the self sets will stop any future problems with roots penetrating the impermeable bank and inkermat prevention layer, or trees falling over in later years causing a breach of the Dam wall.
The work clearing the bank will take place as soon as possible.
The attached plan shows a red line approx. 120m long , where the clearance work will take place
